History of Tom Ford
His full name is Thomas Carlyle Ford, he is born on August 27th 1961 in Texas. In his
early childhood he relocated with his family to Austin and Santa Fe and at age 16 he moved to New York to study in New York’s University to study the history of art.
It did not last for too long as he dropped out in a year's' time and used his good looks to start a modeling career in TV commercials.
Right after then he enrolled in the Parsons The New School for design and his choice of studies was architecture. He graduated from there. Parallel to the studies he was a known figure in the Studio 54 and the iconic nightclub left some influence on his designs – many collections are known to be inspired by the glam and chic of the famous club.
His first experience in the fashion industry was a job at Chloé, where he worked as an intern in the press department. His first real fashion design related job was with Cathy Hardwick, where he worked for two years. After that Tom Ford was hired by Perry Ellis and spent another two years there before moving to Gucci. It was his big opportunity to show the talent and skills as the company was struggling with designs and reputation as well. In 1990 Ford was there and in 1992 was promoted to the role of design director.
During his time in this company Tom Ford faced struggle with the company’s management in the person of Maurizio Gucci whose fashion sense was different to the Ford’s vision. In 1996 the Gucci sales had been increased by 90 %.
He also was nominated the Creative Director at YSL (After Gucci took over the company) and his work was appraised there by numerous prestigious awards plus the customers reaction as well. Ford left Gucci in 2004 in order to create his own label. He also quickly formed partnerships for eyewear design and production, as well as for cosmetics line.
As regards his private life he has openly said that he is in partnership with Richard Buckley. The couple is known to be together for more than 10 years.
Right now his brand is among the most successful fashion brands in the world. All of the shows are very anticipated and he has managed to create the aura of mystery surrounding each new collection. One could say that he has put the word luxury back at its place. The brand currently offers eyewear, footwear, perfumes and cosmetics line and apparel for men and women.
Tom Ford bags online
This designer has always been very discrete and has not valued the large scale all over the place campaigns, so there really were no shows in internet (until the winter 2011 collection). But the consumer demand for Tom Ford bags, clothing and fragrances is huge, so the brand offers to buy beauty and eyewear products online (via large luxury retailers, such as Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and other...) You will not find the sales section in his website. Not at all and there have been rumors about how this brand is protecting its exclusivity also when it comes to major retailers, so don't look for Bags on sale from this brand. Your chance to get an authentic but cheaper Ford purse is only the second-hand market option.
